To bring circuits to life, OpenHW Studio relies on sophisticated hardware emulation libraries that simulate peripheral states, clock cycles, and register interactions.
Microcontroller Peripherals (via avr8js/rp2040js)
MIT License The avr8js and rp2040js libraries do more than execute instructions; they provide the cycle-accurate emulation of complex hardware peripherals, including Timers, USART, SPI, I2C (Two-Wire), and Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC).
Usage in OpenHW Studio: We hook into these emulated hardware peripherals to synchronize the visual states of components (like LEDs, screens, and motors) with the internal MCU state.
